Essay plan: Ambiguity
Intro.: Ambiguity means polysemy. This may lead to not being sure. If I am unsure about what I think about ambiguity, does that equate to a double negative? Yes. It necessarily mustn't.
Para 1: The sub-title of Pierre is or the ambiguities. How many? Melville is not sure.
Para 2: Empson is excited by seven types of ambiguity. There may be more. He does not commit himself ("with typical cowardice", Haffenden, 2003, p.375). To employ Zizekian notation, therefore: (n)ambiguities > 6.
Para 3. Searching under 'disambiguation' on Wikipedia takes one to a page entitled 'disambiguation (disambiguation)[thereof]'; this page offers three possible solutions. Only three, note.
Conc.: Five
